Playing Games

Board games and card games involve a lot of different aspects of maths. Play at least three different games and make a note of all the maths you have to use. How many aspects of maths can you find?

World Explorer

Explore the world using Google Earth – where have you been before? Where would you like to go? How far away are the places? How long would it take to walk or fly there?

Den

Build a den to relax in! Gather bed clothes, pillows, cushions and other items from around your home. Find a snuggly corner or space. Try to make your den as sturdy as possible. Create an entrance and add other items to make it comfy. Now chill inside!

Vlog It

Make a video about something you have read or heard. Make sure you know what you want to say – and remember to include detail like the author and title of the book or name of the film and a summary of the plot. Don’t forget to include why you liked it.

Drawing challenge

Draw something that interests you. Then, every other day, repeat the drawing and see how much you can improve it over the holidays and beyond! Write the date on each drawing so you can see your progress. Think about a specific area each time to improve.

Nature Journal

Spend some time out in the garden, looking out of your window or looking when you go out for a walk. What can you see? Look closely and draw something in detail – a bug or a plant or a piece of bark. Now add details and then research to find out more. Write down the information.

Junk Modelling

In the recycling you may find some useful items to use for junk modelling. What could you make? An animal? A vehicle? A stationery organiser? A castle? A village? A musical instrument? A game? A rocket? Can you add decorations and detail?

Family Film Night!

Plan and host a movie night with family. Arrange the room to your preferred style, choose the snacks and the film, and don’t forget to create the movie tickets to gain entry to the movies!

Organise an obstacle course

Create an indoor/outdoor obstacle course for your family to take part in.

Time and Duration

Keep a log of all you do for several hours. Record the time when you start and finish each activity. Can you draw these times on a clock face? Can you work out, in hours or minutes, how long you spent doing different tasks during the day?
