Children were historians for the day. We looked at a picture of a poppy and people who wear them. We thought and discussed about why?
We looked at photos of people who had different roles during World War II. Using sticky notes we wrote down our ideas of who we thought these people were and why they were important.
We listened to the voices of these people and we matched up who’s story we thought went with each photo.
The children then created a role play for each of the people to tell their story and to suggest why they are significant.
We then created our own poppies.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
