The Nursery adheres to school policies. These are agreed by the governing body. Paper copies of all school policies are available free of charge from the school office.

Please note that the Department for Education has made some updates to EYFS. The following changes have been made and apply from September 2023. The policies and procedures will be amended in  line with these changes from Spetember 2023.

Minimum staff-to-child ratio for 2-year-olds is now 1:5 (rather than 1:4)

This is a minimum requirement. Therefore, you don’t need to worry if you have more than 1 teacher for every 5 pupils.

Childminders can now care for more than the specified maximum of 3 young children

Previously, childminders could care for up to 6 children under the age of 8, but only 3 young children (a child is classed as a young child up until 1st September following their 5th birthday). Under the revised framework, they can care for up to 6 young children if the additional children are:

  • Siblings of the children they already care for
  • Their own children

Clarification – ‘Adequate supervision’ while children are eating means children must be within sight and hearing of an adult
