We need your feedback

We need your feedback!!

Over the last couple of days the staff at Portsdown worked incredibly hard and thought about what they really wanted for your child, for you and for the School.

We came up with a whole list of ‘Values’ we thought were important for your child to learn. The values had to be applicable to Nursery children all the way to Year 6 children. These values would define how we all behave in and around school.

We came up with a big list of values including: Courage, Teamwork, Cooperation, Self-belief, Pride, Thrive, Resilience, Challenge, Confident, Respect, Loyalty, Persevere, Passion, Trust, Honesty, Fun, enjoyment, Aiming high, Empathy, Positivity, Independent, Compassion, Sensitivity, Flexibility, Tolerance, Acceptance, Creativity, Kindness, supportive, Compassion, Consistency, Reliability, Optimism, Patience and Inspire!

When we looked at the words we saw a pattern. They could be grouped into four headings: GROW, CARE, ENJOY and SUCCEED. These four words would become our school motto.

Grow

Care

Enjoy

Succeed

Learn

Friendship

Engage

Aspire

Have courage

Honesty

Try hard

Challenge

Thrive

Respect

Create

Persevere

Under each heading we came up with three linked words which everyone could understand. As a school we would work with the children to define each word ie what each word would look like at Portsdown. These would then become our school key values.

Vision

The staff then thought about what kind of school Portsdown would become if we lived up to our values.

  • It would be useful for us to know what you think about these vision statements. Remember, the statement needs to be understood by all members of the school community.

Portsdown Primary inspires every child with a love of learning, compassion and a belief they will achieve.

Portsdown Primary creates confident, aspirational and independent learners who work together, building their future in a safe and nurturing community. Every child will succeed.

We are really interested in what you think so drop us a note by the end of next week. Thank you!
